Avelino Corral Esteban

I am from Spain. I work as an Associate Professor at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Universidad Complutense de Madrid. I hold a PhD in Syntax and teach courses on English syntax, semantics, phonetics and phonology, psycholinguistics and contrastive linguistics. My main areas of research interest cover the study of the grammar of the Native American languages spoken in the area of the Great Plains in the USA and Canada (i.e. Lakota, Cheyenne, Blackfoot, Crow, and Arapaho, among others), and the interaction between syntax, semantics and pragmatics across languages. At present, I am collaborating in a national research project whose aim is to develop a system of semantic-conceptual representation and implement it into a bidirectional linking algorithm (from syntax to semantics and from semantics to syntax. I have always been fond of Native American cultures and I am looking forward to taking part in this project because I would really love to learn more of this beautiful language and try to contribute to its preservation and maintenance.
